Our song:

Prayers to know:
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us..
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Glory Be
Glory be to the father, and to the son and to the holy spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Act of Contrition
Dear God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you. I firmly intend with the help of your Son to make up for my sins and to love as I should. Amen.

Thinking ahead to gifts for your child after their sacraments?
We give your child a small, sweet token as a reminder of the sacrament. Please read the accompanying card to them to make it more meaningful.
We recommend as a gift for First Reconciliation a book or music - something to help them further prepare their hearts for First Communion. A Missal or Mass book is a lovely option that they can begin using as they transition from completing Reconciliation to preparing for Communion.

Holy Heroes has a lot of wonderful options:

As does Loyola Press

And Catholic Company

Directions for the actual sacrament of reconciliation:
When your turn comes, sit across from the priest.
The priest will greet you, you should say, “Bless me Father for I have sinned, I’m here to make my First Reconciliation”
Then make the sign of the cross.
Next tell your sins to the priest.
The priest will talk to you and give you a penance. Remember what that penance is.
The priest will then ask you to say the Act of Contrition.
Then the priest will say a special blessing of Absolution (that your sins are forgiven).
At the end of the blessing, you make the sign of the cross when the priest does.
Return to the pews where you will say any prayers for your penance. Be sure to thank Jesus for the blessing of Reconciliation and for your family who has been with you for your sacrament.
